Sally Rand, a Nude Burlesque Dancer with large Ostrich feathers, was arrested in Omaha Nebraska for her nude dancing performance in July of 1965. Also arrested with Ms. Rand was George Earl, the owner of the Red Lion Lounge.
At the time, the bar was themed a GoGo bar which drew a lot of attention from the Omaha police department. The bar was, and still is located in the basement of the Colonial Hotel building located at 3804 Farnam St.
All charges against Ms. Rand and Mr. Earl were later dismissed.
Part of Ms. Rand's unique nude dance-routine was that she would carefully utilize large Ostrich feathers to slightly cover her nude body. This nudity of Ms. Rand was a big problem for local law enforcement authorities in Omaha and other large cities.
Ms. Rand had been arrested many times throughout her successful feather-dancing career. At the time of her arrest in Omaha, she was in her early 60's. Ms. Rand lived to be 75 years of age, born April 3rd of 1904 and passed away August 31st of 1979.
