Sally Rand, a Nude Burlesque Dancer with large Ostrich feathers, was arrested in Omaha Nebraska for her nude dancing performance in July of 1965. Also arrested with her was George Earl, my father, the owner of the Red Lion Lounge located in the Colonial Hotel building. All charges were later dismissed.
Part of Ms. Rand's unique nude dance routine was that she would carefully utilize Ostrich feathers to slightly cover her body. This was a big problem for law enforcement authorities in Omaha.
Ms. Rand had been arrested many times throughout her successful feather-dancing career. At the time of her arrest in Omaha, she was in her early 60's. Ms. Rand lived to be 75 years of age, born April 3rd of 1904 and passed away August 31st of 1979.
